Murdoch University is committed to supporting students with disability, physical or mental health conditions, or who are carers for people with disability, to enable equal participation in study.
Welcome to Access and Inclusion
If you have a disability or medical condition, or you are caring for a person with disability, you may need support or assistance with your studies. It is recommended that you contact us to discuss what assistance can be provided. Even if you feel you don’t need any assistance now, get in touch with us to find out the ways we can help.
Some of the conditions we support are:
- physical
- sensory
- mental health
- medical
- specific learning disorders
- temporary injury.
Your support will be tailored to your specific needs and may include coursework and exam support.
How to register for support
This short captioned video outlines how to register for support.
To register for support, make an appointment with the Access and Inclusion Office on (08) 9360 6084 to see an Accessibility Advisor.
When you attend your appointment, you will need to provide your current medical documents or a completed Health Practitioner Report. These documents are used to provide suitable arrangements for you.
This short captioned video outlines what happens in your first meeting with an Accessibility Advisor.
The information you provide helps us create a support plan and won’t be used for any other purpose. It will be treated confidentially and won’t be shared or discussed with anyone unless you provide consent. Find out how we respect your confidentiality and privacy before registering for a support plan.
Equity Quality Assisted Learning (EQAL) support plan
Our Accessibility Advisors will work with you to develop your Equity Quality Assisted Learning (EQAL) support plan that outlines the type and level of support you need at Murdoch.
EQAL is a secure online system that stores your learning plan and maps out the support you can access.
After your support plan is created, you can view your plan in the EQAL system. You can also request the support you need.
Our service standards
Our Accessibility Advisors and University staff endeavour to provide equity to all our students through the best practice standards defined for education. These standards are set by the Disability Standards for Education 2005 and the Commonwealth Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (DDA). The application of these standards at Murdoch University is defined in the Student Disability Policy.
