The Banksia Association aims to build relationships with key supporters and acknowledge their contributions to the University's foundation and development.
Initially formed in Murdoch’s early years as a friendship group started by the wives of academic staff, the Banksia Association was formally established in 2005 by former Vice Chancellor Professor John Yovich, to mark the University’s 30th anniversary and reconnect the institution with people who had made special contributions.
The founding mission statement was ‘to extend knowledge, stimulate learning, and promote understanding for the community's benefit.’
Membership
The Banksia Association consists of dedicated individuals who have made lasting contributions to the University. Members include past external Senate members, Honorary Degree recipients, Emeritus Professors, Distinguished Alumni, foundation staff, donors, and more.
Activities
The Association fosters camaraderie and support among established individuals who contribute to the University through fundraising, mentoring, guest lecturing, and advisory roles.
In 2025 we are planning a series of events to celebrate the University's 50th anniversary.
